you only think christianity is a "secular holiday" because it's your holiday
imagine if instead of Christmas, it was, say, Passover, and school served nothing but matza for eight days, and you learned to sing songs like chad gadya every year in school, while also being completely aware the holiday was about how the Jews came out from Egypt and were given the Torah, Talmud and Ten Commandments... then a Jewish atheist was like "oh it's a secular holiday about matza and singing"
@kittybecca my public school had a Christmas choir concert in a church where students recited religious poetry about the Baby Jesus between religious songs like Silent Night. This was allegedly “a secular celebration” so it was fine. I can’t fucking imagine how you could interpret it as secular.
We couldn’t celebrate Halloween, because that would be “discriminating against religious people”, and our science teacher was almost fired for teaching the Big Bang >_>
@mdmarron "I can’t fucking imagine how you could interpret it as secular."
in bad faith, clearly
@kittybecca Yeah, that sucks. I’m sorry you have to deal with that.
