Jewish stuff, racism, reading this book

Still reading As A Driven Leaf, and while I wait for the deep philosophical and theological wrestling it's renowned for, I am lamenting that Steinberg chose to not depict first century CE Jewish ritual as it was, instead using contemporary ritual. Also what the hell is up with "if it wasn't for his piercing blue eyes he could be mistaken for a pure blooded Arab?!"

Let's talk about Jewish Literature

I do have to say, despite its serious drawbacks, As A Driven Leaf is a great read and is already changing how I see my people and our world.
