What I would really like to see is some sort of mutual recognition between the different streams. Everybody can practice (or not) according to their conscience and Halakhic perspective, but this deal where Orthodox Jews don't recognize *other Halakhic traditions* as even Jewish is not sustainable
@derpayatz the rabbi here was ordained by Aleph and birthright ala orthodox control in Israel wouldn't accept his signature for one of our young members as being Jewish. We went to a conservative ordained rabbi we all new from a sister congregation and viola...I advocate on the world wide wrap as I teach tefillin; Judaism is yours, it all belongs to you as a Jew. Tefillin is not owned by the frum, or men alone. Learn it and own it as just Jewish. 1/2
@derpayatz I've tried to lighten language of reclaim from Orthodoxy, but simply engagement with Judaism, all of it. I'm sure the frum would make me out as awful and misguided, maybe heritical, but I think making practice that we think of as Orthodox on the table to be talked about and done by everyone we disarm the frum to some degree and empower the rest maybe starting some foundation work for a bridge? 2/2
masto.jews.international is a pluralistic, pro-Diaspora Mastodon instance for Jews to conspire, socialize, and debate together.
